Wir hatten einen wunderschönen Trip nach Galapagos und waren fasziniert von der Schönheit dieses Archipels.

Die Anreise bis nach Quito haben wir in Eigenregie per KLM direkt von Amsterdam gemacht. In Ecuador kamen dann die über GalapagosPro gebuchten Reiseanteile dazu. Am nächsten Tag per LATAM über Guayaquil nach Galapagos. Die Buchung und Bereitstellung der erforderlichen Unterlagen lief reibungslos, der tatsächliche Ablauf bei LATAM war allerdings etwas chaotisch, so dass wir als Familie auf vier, nicht zusammenhängenden Plätzen eingecheckt wurden, was so nicht geplant war. Kurz vor Abflug ließ sich daran leider nicht mehr viel ändern. Beim Zwischenstopp mussten wir dann teilweise sogar die Sitzplätze nochmal komplett tauschen, ohne dass wir vorher darauf hingewiesen wurden oder es auf der Bordkarte vermerkt worden wäre – hier hat LATAM einen eher chaotischen Eindruck gemacht.

Auf Galapagos waren wir dann erst ein paar Tage auf Santa Cruz und haben zwei Tagestouren gemacht, beides reibungslos, beides sehr schön und unbedingt zu empfehlen. Auch das Ablaufen des Promenade und ein Besuch von Tortuga Bay (am besten am ganz frühen Morgen) sollte man sich nicht entgehen lassen. Danach sind wir mit der Domenica (Galapagos Seastar Journey) für sechs Tage auf der Westroute unterwegs gewesen – um es kurz zu sagen: Traumhaft! Sehr schönes Boot, tolle Crew, super Essen und eine umwerfende Route auf der es so viel zu sehen gab. Jeder Tag hatte üblicherweise eine Vormittags- und eine Nachmittagsaktivität – so wurde es nie langweilig, aber auch nicht stressig. Bei Rückkehr an Bord wurde man immer mit einem kühlen Getränk begrüßt und der Barservice war auch spitze.

Nach der Cruise waren wir noch zwei Tage auf San Cristobal und haben auch hier nochmals den Ort erkundet und eine Tagestour unternommen – auf die Albatrosinsel Espanola. Die Albatrosse waren leider noch nicht da, aber dafür gab es einen Wal auf der Überfahrt – sehr fair!

Der Rückflug, wieder mit LATAM, lief deutlich besser – dankenswerterweise hat GalapagosPro hier im Vorfeld nochmal die Buchung verifiziert und wiederholt sichergestellt, dass wir als Familie gemeinsam platziert werden. Den freien Nachmittag nach Landung in Quito haben wir genutzt, um uns die Altstadt anzuschauen, die uns jedoch wenig begeistert hat (und die unserer Meinung nach auch gut ausgelassen werden kann). Am nächsten Morgen ging es dann in den Yasuni Nationalpark, wo wir vier spannenden und aufregende Tage im Dschungel des Rio Napo (der später in den Amazonas fließt) verbrachten. Auch hier hat alles gepasst und insbesondere die zweistündige Bootstour auf dem sehr flachen Fluss war ein echtes Erlebnis. Der Dschungel lebt und es gibt viel zu entdecken – hier unbedingt die Wayuza Teezeremonie mitmachen, auch wenn es sehr früh ist.

Nach Rückkehr nach Quito sind wir mit Arianca abgereist und der Ecuador- sowie GalapagosPro-Teil des Urlaubs endeten hier.

Zusammenfassung:

– Sehr gute Urlaubsplanung, Beratung und Betreuung vor Ort durch GalapagosPro

– Wenn möglich Direktflug Quito-Galapagos buchen (ohne Guayaquil)

– Galapagos für Kinder (so ab 10 Jahren) geeignet (dann sind sie alt genug, um die Aktivitäten alle ordentlich mitmachen zu können)

– Man darf nicht wasserscheu sein, muss sicher schwimmen können und darf sich nicht an Tieren im Wasser (Schildkröten, Seelöwen, Rochen und evt. auch mal einem Hai) stören – denn sonst verpasst man SEHR viel

– Yasuni Nationalpark ist einen Besuch wert, auch wenn das Wetter anstrengend ist (Mückenschutz nicht vergessen!)

– Quito eher aussparen…

We had an incredible trip to the Galapagos and were amazed by the beauty of the archipelago.

We had planned our arrival in Quito ourselves and flew with KLM from Amsterdam to Quito. In Ecuador started our booked journey by Galapagos PRO. The next day we flew with LATAM via Guayaquil to Galapagos. The booking and receiving of our travel documentation went over smoothly but the flight itself came with some issues. As a family, it wasn’t possible for the four of us to sit together at all and nothing could be done about that on short notice. During our layover in Guayaquil, we had to switch seats despite there not being any indication on the ticket or anywhere else that we had to do so – LATAM appeared rather chaotic and unorganized.

We spent the first couple of days on the island of Santa Cruz and did two excursions that went smoothly and are highly recommended. Our stroll on the boardwalk along the coast and a visit to Tortuga Bay (best early in the morning) is a must. After those days we went boarded the Domenica (Galapagos Seastar Journey) for six days along the western route – to keep it short: Incredible! A beautiful vessel with, a great crew, amazing food and an unbelievable route that offered so much to see. Every day we usually did an activity in the morning and one in the afternoon, that way days were never boring but also not hectic. We were always greeted with a refreshing drink when returning to the boat and the bar service was great.

After the cruise, we spent another two days on San Cristobal and explored the place and did an excursion – to the island of albatross Española. Unfortunately, the albatross hadn’t arrived yet but on our return, we spotted a whale!

Our return flight with LATAM went a lot better – thankfully, prior to our flight GalapagosPRO ensured repeatedly that we would be seated together as a family. We spent our free afternoon in Quito to visit its old town and were slightly underwhelmed (in our opinion, you can skip this part of town). The next morning we headed to the Yasuni Nationalpark, where we spent four exciting days in the jungle of Rio Napo (which runs into the Amazon). Everything was great and our two-hour boat ride on the shallow river was an exciting experience. The jungle is alive and there is so much to explore – we highly recommend joining the Wayuza tea ceremony, even though it’s very early.

Once returning to Quito we departed Ecuador with Arianca and our journey with Galapagos PRO ended.

Summary:

– If possible direct flight Quito – Galapagos (without Guayaquil)

– Galapagos with kids (from about 10 years) suitable (that way they can participate in all activities)

– Don’t be afraid of water and be secure in your swimming abilities, also don’t be bothered by animals in the water (turtles, sea lions, rays and maybe a shark) otherwise you are MISSING OUT!

– Yasuni is great and worth a visit if you don’t mind the exhausting climate (remember mosquito repellent)

– Quito can be skipped

Wir (2 Erwachsene und unsere 16jährige Tochter) waren mit Galapagospro im April 2023 insgesamt 3 Wochen in Ecuador (Quito/Vulkane auf dem Festland mit dem Mietwagen/Galapagos und anschließend noch 1 Woche in Peru (Lima/Cusco/Machu Picchu) unterwegs.Trotz reichlicher Überlegungen vorab, insbesondere, ob wir trotz der Reisewarnung vom deutschen auswärtigen Amt auch nach Peru reisen könnten, haben wir es dann schlußendlich doch gemacht und wurden belohnt: Alles hat wunderbar geklappt und wir sind sehr glücklich insbesondere dann ganz am Ende der Reise die magische und tief beeindruckende Inkastätte in den Peruanischen Anden gesehen zu haben, und das noch bei strahlendem Sonnenschein, was will man mehr…

Ich würde diese Reise fast genau so wieder machen: Quito und Ecuadors Vulkane waren ein fantastischer Einstieg, die Höhenunterschiede waren beeindruckend! Lange hatten wir vorab gebrütet, ob wir die Galapagosinseln lieber von Land oder per Schiff kennenlernen wollen oder ob gar ein Tauchboot für uns die beste Lösung wäre, haben uns dann aber für eine 6tägige Bootsfahrt auf der Seastarjourney/Domenica entschlossen und das war auch absolut richtig so !!! Es war wirklich toll an Bord, die Suite großzügig für 3 Personen, das Personal sehr zuvorkommend, der Führer exzellent und mit den uns begleitenden 8 Gästen aus aller Welt entwickelten sich schnell richtig freundschaftliche Beziehungen. Schade am Ende, dass die Schiffsreise nicht 1-2 Tage länger war, wir wären gerne noch geblieben. Aber die letzten 3 Tage auf St.Cristobal, an denen wir dann 2 Tage lang noch mit einem Tagesboot auf 3 Tauchgänge gingen, haben das Erlebnis Galapagos eigentlich auch perfekt abgerundet, zumal wir gleich beim 2.Tauchgang unzählbar viele Hammerhaie in unmittelbarer Nähe von uns bestaunen durften.

Sehr angenehm empfanden wir es einmal mehr, dass wir an jedem Flughafen abgeholt und prompt in unsere jeweilige Unterkunft gefahren wurden, das nimmt insgesamt doch sehr viel Stress heraus. Ebenso hilfreich sind die Führungen, durch die man wesentlich mehr und intensiver von seiner Umgebung mitbekommt , ohne dass man ständig in einen Stadtplan und einen Reiseführer schauen muss.

Also: wir sind begeistert und danken Galapagospro für die gute Organisation, Unterstützung und Umsetzung unserer Wünsche. Als Mini-Kritikpunkt ist vielleicht zu erwähnen, dass es auf dem Schiff, wenngleich damit vorher geworben, kein WLAN gibt (wie irgendwie auch logisch auf fast der gesamten Seefahrt), aber selbst unsere 16jährige ließ sich von der Natur und den netten Mitreisenden so begeistern, dass sie das schnell verkraftet hat..

With Galapagos PRO we ( 2 adults and 16-year old daughter) visited Ecuador in April 2023 and spend a total of 3 weeks there (Quito/volcanos on the mainland by car/Galapagos and a week in Peru – Lima, Cusco, Machu Picchu). Due to the warning by the German foreign office we considered for a while if we should skip on travelling to Peru. In the end we decided to go and it was worth it: everything went well and we are very happy to have seen the magical and incredible Incan ruins in the Peruvian Andes at the end the end of our journey. And that with the most beautiful weather, what else could we have hoped for…

I would do this trip almost the same way again: Quito and the volcanos of Ecuador were an incredible beginning, the high differences were astonishing! We deliberated beforehand if we should explore the Galapagos islands from the islands or by boat or even if we should board a dive vessel. In the end we opted for the 6 day cruise aboard Seastar Journey/Domenica and it was definitely the right choice!!! It was really great on board, the suite was plenty for 3 people, the staff accommodating, an excellent guide and you develop quick friendly acquaintances with the fellow 8 travelers from everywhere in the world. We would have loved to stay longer and another 1-2 days would have been amazing. The last 3 days on the island of San Cristobal made our stay perfect. On 2 days we went on 3 dive tours and on our 2nd dive we got to see an uncountable amount of hammerhead sharks right by our side.

We especially enjoyed the quick transfers from every airport to our accommodations, that takes out a lot of stress. Additionally, having a guide with our tours was really helpful and allowed us to more intensively experience our surroundings as you don’t have to constantly try to find things on the map or guide book.

In conclusion: we are amazed and thankful to Galapagos PRO for the great organization, support and realization of our wishes. A tiny critique I’d like to mention was on the vessel, even though advertised, there was no Wi-Fi on board (it does make sense), but even our 16 y/old was pulled into the amazing nature and didn’t seem to mind.

Erst war ich skeptisch: Abflug musste KLM- bedingt um einen Tag verschoben werden, dann fiel 3 Tage vor Abflug die gebuchte Segeljacht -Mary Anne- wegen eines Defektes aus. Eine Freundin gab vorab zu bedenken, dass man gar nicht so dicht an die Tiere herankäme.

Das Galapagos Pro-Team hat alle Unbilden prima gemanagt, ich bekam meine Einzelkabine auf der schönen Ersatz-Motorjacht und kann zu der Betreuung vor Ort durch meine Reiseleiter/innen nur Positives sagen. Engagiert, hilfsbereit und freundlich.

Die 14-tägige Galapagos-Kreuzfahrt war wunderschön, auch dank Hanzel Martinetti, dem versierten Naturführer und ehemaligem “Seal” an Bord. Die Gruppenstärke war während der Teilabschnitte 7, 14 und 9. Das war recht individuell. Ich hätte nicht gedacht, dass ich beim Schnorcheln in Kontakt mit Rochen, gegenüber Menschen friedlichen Haien, Pinguinen, flugunfähigen Kormoranen, Schildkröten und verspielten Seelöwen kommen würde. Am meisten hat mich beeindruckt, großen See-Iguanas unter Wasser beim Essen zuzuschauen. Die Rot- und Blaufußtölpel sowie die Fregattvögel, die auch das Schiff begleiteten, waren eine besondere Attraktion. Auch die Land- und Meeresleguane. Und vieles andere. Die Schiffe haben gute “Zeitslots”, besser als die Tagesausflugsboote. Mit meinem Teleobjektiv kam ich gut an alle Tiere heran, der 2-Meter-Abstand ist gut einzuhalten und völlig berechtigt, um die Tiere zu schützen.

Es war schön, nach der Kreuzfahrt an Land etwas von den Bewohnern der Inseln mitzubekommen und tolle Kunst und T-Shirts zu kaufen. Auch auf eigene Faust Nationalparks auf Isabela und Santa Cruz zu besuchen, war schön. Freier als in der Gruppe.

Und auf Santa Cruz Gundi kennenlernen zu dürfen, Abkömmling deutscher Auswanderer , die erste Naturführerin in Ecuador wurde und auch politisch einiges bewegt hat. Das war mir eine Ehre Jean’s Home war für mich die perfekte Unterkunft.

Auf Zurückzu hatte ich eine Übernachtung in Guayaquil und auch dort genoss ich die sichere Umgebung des schönen Hotels, kaufte Panamahüte, und sah andere Leguane in einem Park.

Ich komme bestimmt wieder, muss ich ja, denn ich sah nicht die Albatrosse, die erst einen Monat nach meiner Rückkehr auf Espaniola angekommen sind.

Es war viel schöner und ergreifender auf den Galapagos-Inseln als ich es mir ausgemalt hatte.

I was sceptical at first: KLM needed to push my flight by a day, 3-days before my flight the booked cruise on board the sailing yacht Mary Anne fell through. A friend worried me beforehand when she told me you weren’t allowed to see animals up close.

The Team of Galapagos PRO did a great job at handling my worries, I embarked on a beautiful replacement motor yacht with my own single cabin and the local support and guides can only be praised. Engaged, helpful and friendly.

The 14-day Galapagos cruise was beautiful, my thanks to Hanzel Martinetti, the passionate nature guide and former ‘Seal’ on board. The group size varied quite a bit during my stay, ranging from 7 to 14 and back to 9 people on board. Rather interesting. I never thought that I would be able to come into close contact with rays when snorkelling or come across friendly sharks, penguins, flightless cormorants, turtles and playful sea lions. Most impressive were the giant marine iguanas we observed grazing underwater. The red- and blue-footed boobies as well as the Frigatebirds that accompanied us were a nice sight. Also, the Iguanas and marine iguanas. And much more. The vessels have great ‘timeslots’, much better than the day tour boats. My telephoto lens allowed me to get really close to the animals and the 2-meter distance is reasonable to protect the animals and easy to maintain.

It was nice to spend some time on land after the cruise to experience the locals of the island and to buy great art and t-shirts. Exploring the national parks on the island of Isabela and Santa Cruz on my own was very nice. More freedom than with a group.

Meeting Gundi, a descendant of German emigrants, who became the first nature guide in Ecuador and also made a difference politically, on Santa Cruz island was an honour. Jean’s Home was a great accommodation for me.

Before I returned I had an overnight stay in Guayaquil and enjoyed the safe surroundings of the hotel, bought Panama hats and saw more Iguanas in a park.

I will probably come back, I have to, I missed the albatross since they only arrived on Española island a month after my return.

It was more beautiful and incredible on the Galapagos islands than I ever could have imagined.

Unsere Reise zu den Galapagos Inseln, ins Hochland von Ecuador und nach Quito wurde perfekt organisiert. Alle Mitarbeiter von Galapagos Pro waren für Fragen immer erreichbar. Auch während der Reise waren Änderungen möglich; auch eine Flugumbuchung wurde problemlos vorgenommen. Frau Schiessl und Herr Bessai in Quito waren großartig. Unser Fahrer Edwin hat uns schnell und sicher durch das Land gefahren. Adrian unser Stadtführer konnte uns reichlich Geschichte vermitteln und hat uns sogar noch zum Einkaufen gefahren.

Unsere Schiffsreise mit der Silver Origin war ein Erlebnis der Sonderklasse. Der Aufenthalt ind der Hazienda Zuleta eine Reise in eine andere Welt. Das Hotel Gangotena in Quito war ebenfalls die beste Wahl für Quito zumal wir dann auch noch die Karfreitagsprozession von der Hotelterrasse beobachten konnten.

Insgesamt eine unvergessliche Reise.

Quito – Cotopaxi

Von den vorbereitenden Informationen bis zur Durchführung der Reise war alles perfekt organisiert. Abholungen und Transfers klappten wie am Schnürchen.

In Quito boten die “Wantara Garden Suites” einen sehr angenehmen Aufenthalt.

Durch die HopOn-HopOff Bus Tour erhielt ich einen guten Überblick über die Stadt. Meinen Schwerpunkt habe ich auf einen ausgiebigen Spaziergang in der Altstadt gelegt.

Einen Höhepunkt im wahrsten Sinn des Wortes bildete die Wanderung zur Schutzhütte auf dem Cotopaxi. Dafür wurde die längere aber weniger steile Route ausgewählt, aber auch deren Bewältigung verlangte mir angesichts der dünnen Höhenluft einiges an Willenskraft ab. Unser Guide Adrian hat uns sorgfältig dahingehend eingewiesen. So sollte jeder sein eigenes Tempo gehen und nicht versuchen “dran zu bleiben”. Alle erreichten das Ziel. Der Weg zurück ging über die steilere Route und niemand beklagte sich, daß wir diese nicht gewählt hatten.

Leider war das Wetter nicht besonders, es herrschte Nebel und es gab Regen- und Hagelschauer.

Am Parkplatz besuchte uns kurz ein Andenfuchs, im Nebel war er aber eher Schemenhaft zu erkennen.

Während meinen Aufenthaltes in Quito hat mich Yannik mit allen erforderlichen Informationen und reichhaltigem Frühstück versorgt.

Auch im weiteren Verlauf der Reise hat er sich nach meinem Befinden und meinen Eindrücken erkundigt.

Ecuador-Regenwald Flusskreuzfahrt

Nach reibungslosem Transfer Einschiffung auf der MV ANAKONDA. Das Schiff (Einzelheiten: https://anakondaamazoncruises.com/cruises/anakonda-amazon-cruise/) bietet auch in der von mir belegten “Standard Suite” mehr als einen “Hauch von Luxus”.

Vorhergehende heftige Regenfälle hatten den Fluss stark mit Sedimenten durchsetzt. Wenn diese sich an manchen Stellen anhäufen und festsetzen, bilden sich Sandbänke die von oberhalb der Wasserfläche nicht zu erkennen sind. Auf einer solchen Sandbank saß das Schiff einmal fest. Unter Einsatz der Schiffsschrauben zum Aufwirbeln des Sandes und den stark motorisierten Kanus, gelang es, die ANAKONDA bald freizubekommen. Das Schiff ist so flachgehend konstruiert, daß sie solche Grundberührung ohne Schaden überstehen.

Die erste Begegnung mit dem Regenwald erfolgte am ersten Abend bei einer Nachtwanderung unter Führung eines hervorragenden Guides brachte uns den Anblick von Fröschen, diversen Insekten, einer Vogelspinne und eines Stachelschweins – in einem Baum.

Auf den Tagesausflügen hätten wir ohne das geschulte Auge unseres Guides in dem dichten Blätterdach kaum etwas entdeckt. So wies er uns immer wieder auf verschiedene l Vögel und Affenarten hin, die er sachkundig erklärte.

Einen Höhepunkt bildete die Sichtung des rosa Flussdelphins. Sie sind so flink, daß es mir kaum möglich war sie zu fotografieren. Ich habe sie mit den Augen “aufgenommen” und bewahre sie in der Erinnerung.

Die Betreuung durch die Besatzung war hervorragend und verdient höchste Anerkennung.

Ich fand es schade, daß auf dem Schiff, das für 40 Passagiere ausgelegt ist nur 5 Personen mitgefahren sind. Ich wünsche der ANAKONDA bald mehr Gäste an Bord.

Galapagos-Kreuzfahrt

Dank der ausführlichen Hinweise verlief das Einchecken für den Flug nach Baltra glatt und ohne Probleme. Während des Fluges werden „unscheinbare“ Formulare ausgeteilt, auf denen man bestätigt, keine verbotenen Lebensmittel einzuführen und zur Kenntnis nimmt, daß bei Zuwiderhandlung 650 $ Bußgeld fällig werden. Das Papier muß mit den übrigen Dokumenten bei der Einreise vorgelegt werden – am besten schon im Flugzeug ausfüllen.

Bei Ankunft im Hotel in Puerto Ayora wurde ich von Frau Karin Kügele begrüßt und über den weiteren Ablauf unterrichtet. Sie hat mich auch vom Hotel zum Hafen gebracht.

Der Besuch der Schildkröten- Aufzuchtstation lohnt sich unbedingt. Auf dem Rückweg bin ich den ersten Echsen begegnet, die gemächlich die Uferstraße querten.

Das Schiff die AIDA MARIA ist zweckmäßig eingerichtet, die Bordküche vorzüglich. Die Aufmerksamkeit und Herzlichkeit der Besatzung verdient höchstes Lob.

Die Tierwelt ist wirklich einzigartig, die von Insel zu Insel unterschiedlichen Echsen und Vogelarten, beim Schnorcheln die unter Wasser umher flitzenden Pinguine und Seelöwen, die farbenprächtigen Fische, auch ein Galapagos Hai und ein Seepferdchen kamen in Anblick. Erstaunlich die unter Wasser grasenden Meerechsen, ich bin mit einer kollidiert, als sie gerade aufgetaucht war. Ein Kormoran hat mich in die Hand gezwickt…hielt sie vielleicht für etwas Essbares. Tat nicht weh, fühlte sich nur etwas seltsam an.

Unser Guide Jairo hat uns jede Tierart ausführlich beschrieben.

Vom Schiff aus konnten wir Delfine beobachten. Am letzten Abend kreisten in der Dunkelheit wie zu Abschied einige gößere Haie hinter dem Heck.

Quito – Cotopaxi

Everything was perfectly organized, from the preparatory information to the realization of the trip. Pick-up and transfers went smoothly.

At Quitos ‘Wantara Garden Suites’ we enjoyed a very nice stay.

The Hop-on-hop-off bus tour gave us a nice overview of the city. I focused my tour on an extensive walk around the old town.

The literal highlight was the hike up to the hut on the Cotopaxi. The selected route was less steep but also rather strenuous and demanded quite a bit of willpower from me due to the thinning air. Our guide Adrian carefully instructed us. Accordingly, everyone should keep their own pace and not try to ‘keep up’. Everyone made it. On our way back we went a different, steeper route and no one proclaimed that we should have taken it on the way up too.

Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t too great, there was quite a bit of fog and we had some rain and hail.

Back at the parking lot we were visited by an Andean fox but in the fog we mostly saw its outline.

During my stay in Quito, Yannik ensured that I had all the required information and a sustaining breakfast.

Throughout my entire trip, he inquired in regard to my well-being and my impressions.

Ecuador rainforest river cruise

After a smooth transfer to the MY ANAKONDA. The vessel (details: https://anakondaamazoncruises.com/cruises/anakonda-amazon-cruise/) offers a ‘Standard Suite’ that is more than just a ‘touch of luxury’.

Previous heavy rains had left the river heavily saturated with sediment. If they collect in places and firm up, they can form sandbanks that aren’t visible from above water. Once, this vessel got stuck on one such sandbank.

With the help of the boat’s propellers to loosen the sand and a strong motorized canoe, the ANAKONDA quickly came free. The boat is built with the least amount of draft, which allows it to sustain this grounding with no damage.

The first night we experienced our first touch with the rainforest during a night walk under the guidance of an amazing guide who brought us up close to frogs, a variety of insects, a tarantula and a porcupine – up in a tree.

Without our guide on our day tours we would have never spotted anything through the thick bush of the jungle. Every so often he pointed out different bird and monkey kinds to us, which he expertly explained.

Spotting the pink dolphin was one of the highlights. They were so quick that it wasn’t possible for me to take a picture. I did take a mental picture and will keep it in my memory.

The care and support of the crew were outstanding and deserve the highest recognition.

I was sorry to see that on a vessel with a capacity for 40 passengers, only 5 guests were on board. My hope for the future is more guests on board the ANAKONDA.

Galapagos cruise

Checking in for the flight to Baltra went smoothly and without problems thanks to the extensive advice beforehand. During the flight unsuspicious forms were handed out in which one confirms to not bring prohibited food to the islands and acknowledge that in offence you will receive a 650$ fine. You then hand all documents in upon entry – best to fill out everything on the plane.

Upon arrival at the Hotel in Puerto Ayora Mrs Karin Kügele greeted me and explained the upcoming itinerary. She also brought me to the port.

Visiting the tortoise breeding centre is a must. On my way back I came across the first Iguanas that casually crossed the shore road.

The AIDA MARIA vessel was furnished accordingly and the meals were exquisite. The attention and wholeheartedness of the crew deserve the highest recognition.

The animal kingdom is truly unique, birds and iguanas vary from island to island, when snorkelling penguins and sea lions were scurrying about, colourful fish, and even a Galapagos shark and seahorses came into view. Astonishing, the grazing marine iguanas, I bumped into one on its way up. A cormorant bit my hand … maybe it confused it with something to eat. It didn’t hurt, just felt odd.

Jairo our guide described every animal extensively.

From the boat, you could spot dolphins in the distance. Some big sharks circled behind the stern at the last night.

Einen Stern vergeben wir für alle Personen, die uns von der Planung der Reise bis zu unserem Rückflug unterstützt, begleitet und verwöhnt haben.

Dazu zählt das Team von Galapagos Pro in Frankfurt (das kurzfristig streikbedingte Plan-Änderungen realisierte) und vor Ort (incl. der Chefin selbst), die Guides bei unseren Ausflügen zu den Papallacta Thermen, Mindo-Nebelwald und Cotopaxi (alle drei sehr zu empfehlen) sowie die Besatzung der Grand Daphne, die uns sicher zu allen Zielen auf Galapagos manövriert und uns die ecuadorianische Küche nahegebracht hat (leider sind die Weinpreise relativ hoch).

Fachlich sehr kompetent beantworteten sie unsere vielen Fragen mit Ruhe und sehr verständlich. Sie haben uns die einzigartige Fauna und Flora von Galapagos bzw. auf dem Festland nähergebracht, uns aber auch auf die Probleme und Schwierigkeiten der Ökosysteme hingewiesen.

Sowohl unsere individuellen Ausflüge als auch die Gruppenreise waren super geplant. Selbst spontane Abstecher zu einer Kaffeeplantage, zur Schildkrötenaufzuchtstation auf San Cristobal aber auch die außerplanmäßigen Schnorchelgänge wurden toll organisiert und bereicherten unsere Reise sehr.

Einen Stern vergeben wir unserer gesamten Gruppe.

Zum Teil stellten die Uhrzeit (6:00 Uhr) der Anlandungen und die Wege auf den Inseln doch die ein oder andere körperliche Herausforderung. Unsere Gruppe nahm diese aber an und gegenseitige Hilfe war für fast alle selbstverständlich. Die ein oder anderen zwischenmenschlichen Unstimmigkeiten wurden von Beate als erfahrener Reiseleiterin und unserem Guide Hein mit Bravour gemeistert, so dass es zu keiner „Meuterei auf der Grand Daphne“ kam.

Einen Stern vergeben wir für alle, die zum Erhalt der einzigartigen Natur ihren Beitrag leisten.

Zum Beispiel die Nationalparkverwaltung, Charles Darwin Station (wir konnten eine Mitarbeiterin kennenlernen), Freiwillige, die sich tagelang an eine einsame Stelle einer Insel legen, um die Schildkröteneier zu zählen, die dort abgelegt werden, die Naturguides, die durch ihre Arbeit versuchen, den Erhalt dieses Flecken Erde den Menschen nahe zu bringen und sie darauf aufmerksam machen, wie gefährdet dieses Ökosystem ist, den Touristen, die bei ihrem respektvollen Besuch einen Eindruck von Paradies mit nach Hause nehmen und vielleicht mit ihren Schilderungen anderen Menschen die Natur näher bringen.

Man kann in so einer Rezension nicht seine ganzen Eindrücke schildern. Fahren Sie in dieses traumhafte, einzigartige, aber auch sehr zerbrechliche Archipel und überzeugen Sie sich selbst!

Wir empfehlen Galapagos pro auf alle Fälle weiter und würden jederzeit wieder mit Beate Zwermann und ihrem Team eine Reise unternehmen.

Our trip with Galapagos PRO (In a group with a previous individual itinerary in Feb/Mar 23) was unforgettable. Unfortunately, we can only rate up to 5 stars. Well deserved!

One star to all the people who supported, guided and spoiled us from the planning of our trip up to our return flight.

Part of that was the Galapagos PRO team in Frankfurt (assisted us in short notice travel changes due to a strike) and locally (including the founder), the guides on our excursions to the Papallacta Thermal Pools, Mindo rainforest and Cotopaxi (all three highly recommended) as well as the crew on board the Grand Daphne, that brought us safely to all destinations within Galapagos and showed us the Ecuadorian cuisine (unfortunately high prices for wine).

One star to the incredible nature guides.

Very competent and ready to answer the many questions we had calmly and very understandable. They brought us closer to the unique fauna and flora of the Galapagos and the mainland and made us aware of the problems and difficulties the ecosystem faces.

One star to the great organization.

Our individual itinerary was just as greatly planned as the group tour. Even spontaneous trips to a coffee plantage, to the tortoise breeding centre on San Cristobal or unscheduled snorkelling tours were well planned and very much enriched our journey.

One star to the entire group.

In parts, the landing in early mornings (6:00 a.m.) and paths on the islands could pose quite a physical challenge. Our group accepted these and supporting one another was without question. The disputes between guests from time to time were handled very professionally by the experienced guide Beate and Hein, this way a mutiny on board the Grand Daphne was averted.

One star to the people who support and keep this incredible and unique ecosystem up.

For example the administration of the national park, the Charles Darwin Station (we didn’t get to know any staff), volunteers that lay in one spot for days to count turtle eggs that were laid there, the nature guides that through their work try to bring this beautiful spot closer to people and show them how vulnerable this ecosystem ist, the tourists that take their impressions from their respectful visit home with them and maybe bring it closer to people through their explanations.

It’s impossible to describe all my impressions in a review. Visit the dreamy, unique but also fragile archipelago and see it for yourself!

We definitely recommend Galapagos PRO and we would travel again with Beate Zwermann and her team anytime.

Bei der Natur, der Tier- und Pflanzenwelt der Galapagos-Inseln fühlte man sich wie im Paradies! Die Highlights waren die Ausflüge nach North Seymour, Bartholome und Espanola. Jede dieser Inseln hatte seinen besonderen Reiz, absolut grandios!!! Auch der Ausflug zum Vulkan Sierra Negra war sehr eindrucksvoll.

Wir hatten jeweils drei Nächte auf den Inseln Isabela, Santa Cruz und San Cristobal. Definitiv sollte man den Aufenthalt auf Santa Cruz verlängern, da es viele Ausflugs-/Besichtigungsmöglichkeiten gibt! Evtl. ist auch ein längerer Aufenthalt auf Isabela sinnvoll. (Los Tuneles haben wir nicht besucht, aber später tolle Bilder von Bekannten gesehen.)

Quito ist auch sehenswert (historische Altstadt, Panecillo, Teleferico – unser Höhepunkt war die Basilica del Voto Nacional), in der Altstadt haben wir uns aber nicht immer sicher gefühlt. Interessant auch die Ausflüge nach Mitad del Mundo, Cotopaxi (leider war das Wetter sehr schlecht – Nebel/Schneefall) und nach Papallacta.

Die lokalen Ansprechpartner von Galapagos PRO standen schnell und stets im Rat und Tat zur Seite. Ebenso sehr kompetent und angenehm war die Begleitung durch die privaten Reiseführer und Naturführer aus Galapagos. Großes Lob!

Last but not least haben alle Transfers reibungslos geklappt, ebenso alle Flüge!

Noch eine paar Worte zu den weiteren Stationen in Brasilien (Iguassu, Rio de Janeiro), die mit dem Partner Aniyami durchgeführt wurden: Auch hier hat alles super geklappt – sehr freundliche, hilfsbereite, flexible und kompetente Ansprechpartner/Reiseführer – und das deutschsprachig (ist einfach angenehm, selbst wenn man sich leidlich englisch oder spanisch verständigen kann). Empfehlung!

It feels like paradise being in the nature and animal kingdom of the Galapagos islands! Highlights were excursions to the islands of North Seymour, Bartholome and Española. Every island is special in its own way and absolutely amazing!!! The excursion to the volcano Sierra Negra was very impressive.

We spent three nights on the islands of Isabela, Santa Cruz and San Cristobal. The stay on Santa Cruz should definitely be extended because the island offers many excursions and sights. Maybe it also makes sense to stay longer on the island of Isabela. (We didn’t visit Los Tuneles but saw some great pictures our acquaintances took.

Quito is also worth a visit (historic old town, Penecillo, Teleferico – highlight was the Basilica del Voto Nacional), we haven’t always felt safe in the old town though. The excursions to the Mitad del Mundo, Cotopaxi (the weather was bad unfortunately – fog/snow) and Papallacta were also interesting.

The local staff of Galapagos PRO were quick to assist and always available. Additionally, our guides and nature guides from the Galapagos were very competent and nice to be guided by. Kudos!

Last but not least all transfers went smoothly, also all flights!

A few last words to the additional stops is Brazil (Iguassu, Rio de Janeiro), carried out by the partner Aniyami: Everything went very well – very friendly, helpful, flexible and competent contact persons/guides – and in German (very comfortable even if you could communicate in English or Spanish) Recommended!

Ich war dank der ausführlichen Programmbeschreibung über die komplette Reise Galapagos sehr gut informiert. Gleichzeitig wurde mir zusätzlich eine Detailliste über nötige Utensilien zur Verfügung gestellt. Das Angebot war sehr umfangreich. Während der ganzen Reise wurden wir stets betreut. Eine ganz besondere gute Leistung der Organisation vor Ort hatte Beate Zwermann und ihr Team geleistet. Das muss ich hier wirklich mal betonen.

Hoch erfreut war ich auch über unseren Guide, der uns während der Reise auf dem Schiff begleitet hatte. Seine Gelassenheit und fachliche Kompetenz war ausgesprochen hervorragend.

Galapagos ist wunderschön und faszinierend. Alle Tiere, die ich gesehen habe, sind gar nicht menschenscheu und strahlen eine Friedlichkeit aus. Es scheint ein Zauber der Gelassenheit über Galapagos zu hängen. Auch Single wurden in der Gruppe gerne auf Augenhöhe mit eingebunden. Ein Ehepaar hatte sich allerdings nicht integrieren wollen und hatte sich mit ihren Vorurteilen Irritationen ausgestrahlt. Völlig unnötig! Das war für mich ein Hinweis, dass das Ehepaar das Programm zuvor nicht aufmerksam gelesen hatte. TiPP. Für die Organisatoren: Interessenten sollten sich vorher für so einen Aktivurlaub erst vorher bewerben, ob sie dafür geeignet sind.

Thanks to the extensive itinerary description I was very informed about the entire trip to the Galapagos. At the same time, I was also provided with a list of needed utensils. The range was very extensive. Throughout the entire trip, we were well taken care of and always looked after. Especially great was the service was the local organization by Beate Zwermann and her team. That needs to be pointed out.

We were also very happy with our guide, that accompanied us the whole time on board the vessel. His composure and professional competence were outstanding.

Galapagos is gorgeous and fascinating. Every animal we encountered wasn’t shy and exuded friendliness. There seems to be a bit of magical calmness throughout the Galapagos. Singles were integrated into the group and welcomed with open arms. There was one couple that didn’t agree with integrating themselves into the group and rather irritated everyone else with their prejudice. Unnecessary! It was obvious to me that they didn’t study their program thoroughly. Tip for organizers: Potential customers should apply for an active holiday, to see if they are suitable.
